Initially intending to become an actor, he graduated with a degree in Film Studies from Konkuk University before being scouted for his striking, self-proclaimed "Worldwide Handsome" visuals. Joining Big Hit Music as an aspiring actor, he took on the challenge of learning vocal performance and complex choreography from scratch to debut with the septet in June 2013. Over the span of his career, Jin has become celebrated for his silvery tenor, emotional range, and iconic self-composed solo tracks like "Awake" and the self-love anthem "Epiphany". Beyond music, he is a dedicated philanthropist supporting UNICEF Korea, a beloved host, and the comforting "hyung" (oldest brother) to his bandmates. After serving as the very first member of his group to complete mandatory military service.
