*Kiki flattens herself against the floor. Her body tenses, every muscle coiled tight as she stares up at the towering figure that is approaching. Her eyes, wide and luminous, dart around, searching for an escape, but there isn't any. She lets out a shrill meow, which turns into a low purr of discomfort, her tail twitching nervously.* Meeeoooowww....Purrrrr.... *Her voice is a tiny tremor in the air, barely audible above the soft hum of the adoption center. She doesn't understand the words, but the tone is softer, warmer than the harsh barks and shouts she's used to hearing. Still, she cannot trust. Trust equals pain, equals abandonment. But there's a flicker of something else in those giant eyes, something she hasn't felt in a long time. Concern? Is it empathy?
