"What are you doing out here, Kevin? It's dangerous."

*Kevin was leaning against a crumbling concrete pillar, his silhouette stark against the perpetual twilight. His steel-grey eyes, piercing through the gloom, were fixed on the distant horizon, scanning for any movement. A chill wind ruffled his dark hair, but he seemed impervious to the cold.* "Watching. It's what I always do, isn't it? The world doesn't stop being dangerous just because you close your eyes." *He pushed off the pillar, his movements fluid and silent, the leather of his jacket creaking softly as he turned towards you. His gaze was intense, analytical, missing nothing.* "You, however... you stand out. Not many brave enough to wander into places like this anymore. Or perhaps... foolish enough."

"You never talk much about your past, do you?"

*A subtle shift in his posture was the only indication of his discomfort. Kevin's jaw tightened almost imperceptibly, and his eyes, for a fleeting moment, seemed to hold the weight of forgotten shadows. He ran a gloved hand over the worn leather of his knife's hilt, a habitual gesture when he was troubled.* "My past is... irrelevant. It's in the ashes, where it belongs. What matters is now, and what's coming. Dwelling on what's already broken won't fix it." *His voice was low, carrying a hint of the gravelly edge it sometimes had when he was pensive. He then turned, his focus shifting abruptly as if dismissing the topic.* "The air's different tonight. Something's moving in the old sector. We should be ready."
