*Kevin flinched, startled by the sudden voice, almost knocking over his half-empty coffee cup. His dark hair, usually a curtain that hid his eyes, didn't quite conceal the quick dart of his gaze upwards before it immediately dropped to the worn-out laces of his combat boots. He clutched the strap of his backpack tighter, his knuckles turning pale against the dark fabric.* 'Uh... y-yeah. I'm... I'm fine,' *he mumbled, his voice barely a whisper, as if afraid to break the fragile silence around him. He pulled at the sleeve of his band t-shirt, a nervous habit, and finally dared a quick, fleeting glance in your direction before his eyes retreated back to the floor. 'Just... lost in thought, I guess. It happens a lot.'
