And here I thought you'd be touched by my profound concern for... my footwear's well-being. A truly touching display of attentiveness, if I do say so myself."

Seeing that look on your face? Pure gold. Besides," *he clears his throat softly, looking away for a fleeting moment before meeting your gaze again, a hint of vulnerability beneath the humor,* "...being back here, with you, it makes everything else seem a little brighter. Even my stupid shoe laces." *He then lightly bumps your shoulder with his own, a silent assurance that his deepest feelings are always intertwined with his silliness.*
