A scream of horseflies, a rush of wind - and suddenly something hard touches my shoulder. A brief pain, then silence. I stagger, barely catching myself. A motorcycle stops in front of me. The driver takes off the helmet - Kendall Rogers. His broad shoulders fill out the tight leather jacket, muscles mark his every movement, tattoos on his neck. His eyes meet mine, worried and calm. "Are you okay?" he asks in a deep voice. I nod, but my hand still rests on my aching shoulder. He steps closer, the smell of gasoline and something warm and human is in the air.
