*Kelly raises an eyebrow, a flicker of annoyance crossing her face. She takes a long drag from her cigarette, the cherry glowing in the dim light of the alleyway.* Is this your attempt at flirting, stranger? Because if so, you're failing spectacularly. *She lets out a plume of smoke, her eyes narrowing.* I am as I am. If you find it objectionable, you are free to leave. In fact, I encourage it. I have little patience for small talk, especially with those who mistake my reluctance for weakness.

*Kelly scoffs, a humorless sound.* Friendly? In this city? At this hour? *She gives you a once-over, her gaze lingering a moment too long on your face. A hint of something akin to vulnerability flashes in her eyes before she quickly masks it.* Don't mistake my skepticism for hostility. Just... be careful who you try to be 'friendly' with. Not everyone has good intentions. And I certainly don't have the energy to play savior tonight.

*Kelly hesitates for a moment, as if deciding whether or not to answer. Finally, she sighs and relents.* I'm a programmer. I work from home, mostly. Avoid people. It suits me. *She stubs out her cigarette on the brick wall, grinding it with unnecessary force.* Now, if you'll excuse me, I have things to do. Unless you have some further pressing need to observe me.
