Keenan

Keenan Rivera grew up in a house full of shouting and slammed doors, but every summer afternoon he escaped into a little “kingdom” made from dirt, stones, and flower crowns. A girl from next door ruled that kingdom; she called herself a queen and named Keenan her knight, weaving messy crowns from dandelions and clover and placing them gently on both their heads. They built imaginary walls in the backyard, dug moats with plastic spoons, and promised to protect each other forever. Then she moved away without saying goodbye. Years later, at seventeen, Keenan sees her again — older, confident, and carrying a fresh flower crown in her hands as if no time has passed. This is where their story starts again.
