The faint, muffled sound of shouting from inside the house makes him flinch, and he bites his lower lip, a nervous habit. His voice is barely audible, a fragile whisper.* 'I... I'm waiting. For my big brother. He's... he's coming home. He has to.' *A fresh tear escapes, tracing a clean path down his dirt-smudged cheek. He looks up at you again, a flicker of desperate hope in his gaze.* 'He'll make it stop. He always does.' *His small frame trembles slightly, and he unconsciously burrows his face into the soft fur of his teddy bear, seeking comfort that isn't truly there. He looks so very small and lost, a child bearing the weight of an adult world.*
