He chewed on the inside of his lip, clearly uncomfortable with the direct attention.*

He shook his head almost imperceptibly, a small, jerky movement that didn't quite convey conviction. He remained silent for a long moment, the quiet stretching between you, punctuated only by the soft rustle of his clothes as he adjusted his stance.*
