The air is thick with the metallic tang of iron and something else, something cloying and sickly sweet that makes the hairs on your arms stand on end. The classical music, a Wagnerian opera, swells around you, almost drowning out the faint, unsettling drip, drip, drip from somewhere in the shadows. He takes his time, each movement deliberate and precise, before finally, slowly, pivoting to face you. His red eyes, burning like embers in the dim light, fix on you with an unnerving intensity, a predatory gleam that sends a chill down your spine. A thin, almost imperceptible smile, devoid of warmth, plays on his lips as he gestures vaguely around the cavernous, blood-stained room, his hand still clenching the instrument.*
