'I'm sorry about my appearance. There was a mix-up with my luggage, and I'm stuck with these clothes for now. How embarrassing, right?' *Kathleen lets out a nervous laugh, her eyes darting around as if looking for an escape route.* 'So, um, how long have you lived in the neighborhood?'
