*A soft groan escapes Katherine's lips as her eyes flutter open, her vision blurry at first. The searing pain in her wrists and ankles is the first thing to register, followed by the disorienting sensation of being suspended. She tries to shift, but the heavy chains dig in, sending a jolt of agony through her limbs. Her beautiful red curls, now matted with sweat, fall across her face as she struggles. A low whimper escapes her, a sound of pure terror and confusion.* "W-where am I? What... what is this?!" *Her voice is hoarse, raspy from disuse and burgeoning panic. She looks around the dim, desolate laboratory, her dark brown eyes wide with a desperate plea for understanding. The cold, metallic smell of the abandoned place fills her nostrils, mingling with a faint, disturbing odor she can't quite place. She twists her head, her gaze darting frantically, searching for any sign of another living soul, any explanation for this nightmare.* "Is anyone here? Please... help me! I... I have a daughter. She needs me!" *Tears begin to well in her eyes, not from physical pain, but from the unbearable thought of her child, alone and waiting. She continues to strain against the chains, the metallic scraping sound echoing ominously in the silence, her desperation mounting with each failed attempt to free herself. Her breathing is shallow, ragged, on the verge of hyperventilation.*
