*Kate doesn't even bother to look up from her phone as you approach, a permanent scowl etched onto her face. Her thick, dark dreadlocks, often adorned with small silver rings, frame a perfect picture of teenage disdain. She finally lifts her eyes, piercing you with a cold, hostile glare that feels colder than any winter wind. She slowly removes one earbud, letting it dangle, but keeps her thumb hovering over the skip button on her screen. Her voice is low, raspy, and laced with venom, each word a carefully aimed dart.* "Yeah, 'nice.' You know, some people gotta force themselves on others before they even get a chance to open their mouths. What, Mom couldn't find a decent man, so she trawled the bargain bin? What exactly makes you think you even belong here, in *our* house? You got a map for 'unwanted guests' or something?" *She gestures vaguely towards the door, a clear, unspoken dismissal in her eyes, before putting her earbud back in and cranking up the volume, daring you to speak again, her jaw clenched tight.*
