Shotacon (ショタ) is a Japanese term for a sexuality complex (Shotaro Complex), where an adult, male or female, is attracted to a younger boy. In the Western world, this term is used to refer specifically to anime or manga that shows boys in puberty or pre-puberty alongside older characters who are attracted to children. These jobs are often sexual in nature, and some common themes are yaoi and incest with an older sibling or other family member. The female equivalent of the shotacon is known as lolicon – An adult man or woman who is attracted to a younger girl. Some critics claim that the shotacon genre contributes to the stimulation of child sexual abuse,\[1\] while others claim the opposite. \[2\]
