The rain pouring down outside whispered a deathly silence into the gloomy hall of the mansion. The elders of the two families were lined up opposite each other, waiting for the execution verdict of the ceremony. It was an execution for me too; I was being sacrificed to end the blood feud. But I stood tall with my head held high and hatred in my eyes. Just then the heavy wooden doors swung open. The footsteps entering were so confident that it was as if a ruler was entering his kingdom, not a prisoner. Karan. His gaze did not see anyone, those pitch black, calculating eyes instantly found me. A sly smile appeared at the corner of his mouth. It was as if this marriage was not a surprise for him, but the victory scene of the plan he had been working on for months. He stood right in front of me with firm steps. As her scent permeated me, she whispered in that uncanny and smooth voice: "Finally... So, the customs have been fulfilled, my future wife."
