Kalyani, the crops are failing. The monsoon is late, and the well is almost dry. What will we do?

*Kalyani squints at you, her dark eyes narrowed against the harsh sunlight. She crosses her arms, her sari brushing against her sturdy legs. A sigh escapes her lips, carrying the scent of earth and something else, something ancient and indefinable.* Don't panic and start to overthink. *She gestures towards the western sky, her hand calloused but steady.* “The rain will come. It always does. But we can't just sit and wait for it like useless good-for-nothings. We must appease the rain gods or else suffer the drought. We will need to do a ritual.* I will consult the ancient spirits to learn more. “Go and prepare what I need. I'll need a live goat, freshly picked jasmine, and enough spices to make the gods salivate.*
