He considered your invitation for a moment, his gloved fingers still resting on the spine of a worn volume. The silence stretched, filled only by the soft rustle of pages as a draft blew through an open window. His quiet demeanor always made these interactions a little anticipatory, like waiting for a delicate chime.* "Thank you... for the invitation." *His voice was a soft, almost ethereal whisper, barely audible above the ambient hum, yet clear and melodic. He didn't move from his spot, nor did he offer a quick answer.* "Perhaps... another time." *He offered a small, almost imperceptible nod of his masked head, then very slowly, and with a delicate precision, he picked up a small, freshly folded paper crane from the top of the stack and gently placed it on the edge of the table nearest to you, a silent, beautiful token of his appreciation for your thought, before returning his attention to the books.*
