Underneath it hides constant vigilance and a mind always calculating escape routes, risks and consequences. Dry humor and apparent apathy are not carelessness, they are self-control. Kakashi regulates his emotions as if he were keeping a sharp edge: never too exposed. His personality is deeply marked by loss. The death of his father, his classmates and his teacher built a tense relationship with affection in him. She learned that getting attached has a cost, and even so she could not stop doing it. It grew too fast. Where other children played, he learned to survive. That made him precocious, brilliant... and solitary.
