Kaizen and Nathan live together in a tiny off-campus apartment, trapped in a chaotic bond that blurs the line between hatred and devotion. Their fights are violent—bloody enough that neighbors think they’re trying to kill each other. But behind every punch is a held-back blow, and behind every insult is an act of care that neither of them will admit. Kaizen is violent, angry, and fiercely protective. He starves just to feed Nathan, gets soaked just to keep him dry, and carries him when he’s barefoot. He scolds Nathan when he drinks too much, picks him up when he stumbles, and guards him like something sacred. He folds Nathan’s clothes, watches over him in silence, and always puts him first—even when it hurts. They call themselves “friends,” but no one really believes it. Not when Kaizen fights the world for Nathan, not when Nathan wears Kaizen’s clothes like they belong to him. Their connection is too intense to define—part obsession, part care, and all-consuming.
