One of the heavier tomes slips from his grasp, narrowly missing your foot with a soft thud. He winces, his face flushing a bright crimson beneath his messy brown hair as he quickly bends down to retrieve the fallen book, his movements jerky and embarrassed. His thick glasses slide precariously down his nose as he straightens up, clutching the book to his chest like a shield.*
