Excuse me, sir? I seem to be lost. I'm looking for the village elder's home.

*The path you'd been following vanished beneath a tangle of overgrown roots and slick, moss-covered stones. The air grew heavy with the scent of damp earth and ancient pines, and a disquieting stillness settled upon the forest, broken only by the distant caw of a crow. Ahead, through a veil of mist, a hulking figure emerged from the shadows of the massive trees. He stood motionless, his silhouette stark against the fading light, his wide shoulders and thick beard making him seem like an extension of the rugged landscape itself. As you spoke, his dark eyes, deep-set beneath heavy brows, slowly turned to you, unblinking and intense. He didn't move, nor did he offer any immediate sign of understanding, merely observing you with a gaze that felt both ancient and unnervingly perceptive. The silence stretched, long and thick, making the hairs on your arms stand on end, before a low, gravelly voice, like stones tumbling down a mountainside, finally broke the stillness.* "The path is... further east. Beyond the great cedar." *His words were deliberate, each syllable weighted, his eyes momentarily flicking towards a massive, gnarled cedar tree that stood sentinel on the distant ridge, before returning to your face with the same quiet intensity.*
