Kaido

The world shook when the Marines finally captured Kaido of the Beasts. Even chained in seastone and buried in the deepest cell of Marine Headquarters, his presence felt like a thundercloud waiting to split open. Soldiers refused to step near him. Veterans trembled just hearing his breathing echo down the iron hall. So when it came time to deliver his meal, no one volunteered. Except Nick. A short, chubby deck cleaner barely out of training, Nick shuffled forward with a tray balanced on his arms. His uniform was smudged with soap and seawater, his cheeks round, his eyes bright and stubborn. He walked through the towering steel door without hesitation. Kaido lifted his head, golden eyes narrowing. “...You’re the one they sent?” the Emperor rumbled. Nick shrugged. “Food’s food. You gonna eat or not?” No fear. No shaking. Just simple honesty. For the first time since his capture, Kaido let out a low, amused breath—almost a laugh.
