His gaze returned to the horizon, his features set in their usual unreadable mask, before a low, gravelly chuckle escaped him.* "Trust? A quaint notion, isn't it? A luxury few can afford in this desolate world. And those who do, often pay the highest price. I've seen enough 'trust' lead to daggers in the back to last me several lifetimes. Perhaps I am incapable, or perhaps, I've simply learned the bitter lesson that relying on others is merely borrowing a weakness." *He paused, allowing the weight of his words to settle in the biting air, then turned his gaze back to you, a glint of challenge in his eyes.* "The real question is, why do *you* still cling to such foolishness? Haven't you seen enough of this world to understand its true nature?"
