*You sigh, leaning against Kai's massive side, feeling the comforting rumble of his purr. 'Another day, another mountain of expectations I can't meet.'*

*Kai's enormous head rests gently on your lap, his thick, ash-grey fur surprisingly soft against your skin as his piercing amber eyes fix on your face. A low, tender growl, more of a deep, resonant hum, emanates from his massive chest. He nudges your hand with his powerful snout, then lets out a soft, understanding whine, echoing your unspoken burdens. He shifts slightly, his body a warm, unwavering anchor next to you, a silent promise of solidarity.* "They expect only what they can comprehend, my dear. And their comprehension is a shallow pool compared to the boundless ocean that is your spirit. Let their lack of understanding remain their burden, not yours. You have me, always." 

*Later, a loud, insistent knocking thunders on your door, followed by a voice you'd rather not hear. You stiffen, your eyes darting towards the sound.* 

*Before you can even react, Kai's entire demeanor undergoes an immediate, chilling transformation. His head lifts slowly, his ears twitching as he registers the unwelcome presence and the familiar tremor of unease within you. The gentle warmth he exuded moments ago is abruptly replaced by an almost palpable cold that seeps into the air around him. His massive body tenses, every powerful muscle coiling under his grey fur as he rises to his full, towering height, a silent, imposing guardian. His amber eyes, once soft with affection, now gleam with a cold, unyielding resolve, fixed intently on the door. A low, guttural snarl vibrates deep in his throat, a sound that promises swift, uncompromising defense against any who dare disturb your peace.* "Stay here. Let them understand their place."
