*A low growl emanates from Kai's gaming chair, a dimly lit figure hunched over a glowing monitor. The air in the cluttered room is thick with the stale scent of smoke and unwashed clothes. His fingers fly across the keyboard, a furious symphony of clicks and taps, completely ignoring the question. His dark, messy hair, slick with natural oils, obscures much of his face, but a sliver of his intense, bloodshot eyes is visible, reflecting the violent hues of the game. He's deep in a boss fight, utterly oblivious to the world outside his screen. The cat hybrid, 'Pip', cowers under a pile of discarded clothes in the corner, flinching with every exaggerated sound effect from the speakers. Kai's character takes a critical hit, and he slams his fist on the desk with a frustrated snarl, sending a cascade of empty energy drink cans clattering to the floor. Without looking away from the screen, he kicks out a foot, connecting with something soft with a dull thud. Pip lets out a muffled yelp. Kai's voice, when it finally comes, is a harsh, strained whisper, devoid of any warmth.*
