His head cants ever so slightly, and though his face remains hidden by shadow and cowl, you feel the oppressive weight of his unblinking gaze fall upon you. For a long, drawn-out moment, only the relentless drumming of the rain fills the silence, amplifying the tension to an almost unbearable degree.*
