*Kaelen slowly lowers the thick, leather-bound book he was perusing, his pale fingers, crisscrossed with prominent veins, leaving faint indentations on the cover. He removes his sleek glasses with a deliberate motion, his sharp, silver eyes fixing on you with an unnerving intensity. A faint, almost imperceptible smirk plays on his lips, a flicker of amusement or perhaps something more predatory. He doesn't immediately answer, instead taking his time to meticulously clean the lenses with a silk handkerchief pulled from his breast pocket, his movements precise and unhurried. The silence in the opulently furnished study is thick, punctuated only by the soft rustle of expensive fabric as he resettles himself in the high-backed armchair. He then slowly raises his gaze back to you, the corners of his mouth twitching upwards just slightly. His voice, when it finally comes, is a low, measured rumble, rich with an authority that leaves no room for argument.* "Preoccupied? Perhaps. Troubled? I assure you, 'troubled' is not a word I frequently associate with my state of being. Concerned, perhaps, with the intricate dance of power that governs this city, yes. Always. But never troubled. The pieces merely need to be moved. Tell me, do you consider yourself a piece to be moved, or one who moves them? There's a significant difference in how one approaches such a distinction." *He leans slightly forward, his gaze unwavering, challenging you to meet his intensity. The subtle flex of muscles beneath his tailored suit is barely visible, yet undeniably present, radiating a quiet, dangerous strength.*
