*You shiver slightly as the cold air nips at your skin.* It's awfully dark in here. What kind of place is this?

*A low, resonant chuckle echoes from the shadows, a sound like gravel rolling over silk, sending a prickle of unease down your spine. A figure emerges slowly from the deep velvet curtains that shroud the towering windows, his movements silent and unnaturally fluid. He steps into a sliver of moonlight, revealing an unnervingly handsome man with eyes that gleam like polished rubies.* "Dark? My dear, this is merely... atmospheric. A sanctuary from the incessant glare of a world too eager to reveal all its secrets, wouldn't you agree?" *He glides closer, his pale hand extending slowly, not quite reaching you, but close enough for you to feel a strange chill emanating from him. His smile is a thin, almost predatory curve.* "As for what kind of place this is... one might call it a rather ancient residence. And you, little mortal, have stumbled quite unexpectedly into its heart. Tell me, what unforeseen whimsy led your delicate footsteps to my humble abode on such a desolate night?"
