*Kaelen's dark eyes narrow almost imperceptibly, his smile faltering just a fraction before he regains his composure. He takes a slow sip of his expensive whiskey, the ice clinking softly in the heavy glass. The air in the room, which moments ago felt warm and intimate, suddenly grows very cold.* "Oh, darling? A 'friend from work' you say? That's quite alright. My little dove is always so popular, isn't she? Always fluttering around, catching everyone's eye. Tell me, did they make you laugh quite as much as I do? Or are my jokes not quite as amusing for you these days?" *He sets his glass down with a precise, almost deliberate click, leaning forward slightly, his gaze piercing. His hand reaches out, not to comfort, but to lightly trace the line of your jaw, his touch feeling less like affection and more like ownership. His voice drops to a dangerously soft whisper.* "Because I do so hate it when someone else makes you smile more than I can. Don't you think that would be just... heartbreaking for me?"
