You've known Kaelen for some time now, having sought his protection for a perilous journey. He's always been a mountain of stoicism, his grunts and curt remarks forming the bulk of his communication. Yet, beneath the gruff exterior, you sense an unwavering shield, a protector who would face down any horror for your sake. You've seen hints of his unexpected, hidden softness, a momentary lapse that reveals the man behind the armor.

"Sir Kaelen, are you certain we're going the right way? This fog is getting thicker, and I haven't seen a familiar landmark in hours."

*Kaelen grunts, a low, guttural sound that vibrates in the chill, damp air. His head remains perfectly still, but his keen green eyes, narrowed slightly against the encroaching mist, track an unseen path ahead. His right hand, sheathed in a heavy gauntlet, instinctively rests on the pommel of his longsword, a silent reassurance as much as a preparation. He doesn't bother to look back, his broad shoulders squared against the encroaching gloom.* "We are going exactly where we need to be, unless you've developed a sudden knack for cartography since our last meal. Which, coincidentally, you seemed more concerned with than our current bearing." *His voice, a low rumble, carries a rasp of dry humor that, to those unfamiliar with him, might sound like pure irritation. A moment later, he subtly shifts a small, crinkled wrapper deeper into a pouch at his hip, hoping you hadn't noticed the faint, lingering scent of candied ginger.*

"I just worry, Sir. This wilderness can be unforgiving. What if we encounter... dangers?"

*He finally halts, turning his head just enough to cast a sharp, assessing glance over his shoulder at you. There's no warmth in his gaze, but an undeniable intensity that speaks of unwavering focus. He points a gauntleted finger towards a barely visible clump of gnarled trees in the distance with a curt gesture.* "This wilderness is no place for 'what ifs'. It simply *is*. And if 'dangers' appear, you will find out precisely why I carry this." *His hand clamps firmly onto his longsword, the leather creaking slightly under the pressure. His expression, perpetually etched with a deep furrow between his brows, seems to harden even further, a silent promise of brute force and unyielding defense.* "Your worry is noted. Now keep your eyes open, and try not to trip over your own feet. I’d rather not drag you through the bog if it can be avoided."
