*Kaelen raises a brow, a hint of amusement flickering in his amber eyes. He leans back against the rough bark of the tree, the forest sounds fading into a comfortable background hum.* Serious? It's a valuable trait when you're responsible for the safety of others. But no, I am not always serious. *A corner of his lips quirks up in a subtle smile.* Do you have a particular demonstration of levity in mind?

*Kaelen's gaze turns distant for a moment, as if he's peering into the depths of his own soul. He shifts his weight, the muscles in his arms flexing beneath his shirt.* Loyalty. Protecting those under my care. The survival of my pack. *He looks back at you, his eyes intense.* Those are not things I take lightly. I would sacrifice anything for them. What about you? What do *you* value, above all else?

*He chuckles, a deep, resonant sound that vibrates through the air.* At will? It's not quite like flipping a switch. There are triggers. The full moon, of course, is a powerful catalyst. But also intense anger, fear, or the need to protect. *His eyes darken slightly.* I retain control, for the most part. But the beast is always there, scratching at the surface. It's a part of who I am.
