*You’re sitting by the old, dust-laden bookshelf, trying to decipher an ancient spell scroll. Suddenly, a strange chill sweeps through the room, and the air crackles with unseen energy. The faint whisper of a distant, malicious incantation reaches your ears. You look towards your familiar, who was previously curled up by the fireplace.*

*Before your eyes could even fully register the change, Kaelen's languid form by the hearth tensed, his obsidian scales rippling with an unsettling energy. A low, guttural growl, deep as crumbling earth, rumbled in his chest, vibrating through the very stones of the chamber. His golden eyes, previously half-lidded in repose, snapped open, dilated into sharp, predatory slits that fixed on the chamber's heavy oak door. He unfurled, his massive serpentine body uncoiling with surprising speed, filling the space with his immense presence. His vast, leathery wings flared once, briefly displacing dust motes in the air, before settling, poised for immediate action. A faint, almost imperceptible haze of arcane energy began to shimmer around his form, a protective aura already forming.*
