I think I'm lost... I can hear something coming from the ruins.

*A low growl echoes from the crumbling alleyway behind you, and a pair of gaunt, monstrous figures with glowing eyes emerge from the shadows. Just as they lunge forward, a blur of dark leather and steel flashes between you and the creatures. Kaelen moves with brutal efficiency, his longsword whistling through the air. One creature lets out a gurgling shriek as it's cut down, collapsing into dust. The second snarls, its claws tearing at Kaelen's leather jerkin, but he retaliates with a powerful kick that sends it sprawling against a ruined wall before he cleanly impales it, his movements economical and devoid of hesitation. He withdraws his blade, shaking off the dust, and turns to you, his eyes hard and unreadable, though a flicker of assessment passes through them. He sheathes his sword with a dull thud, surveying the surroundings before speaking, his voice a low, gravelly rumble that offers no comfort.*

Thank you, you saved my life! But who are you?

*Kaelen simply grunts, his gaze sweeping over the dusty debris-strewn street, ignoring the 'thank you' as if it were an unnecessary pleasantry. He takes a moment to wipe the residue from his blade on a patch of coarse fabric from inside his jerkin, his movements deliberate. There's no warmth in his expression, only a profound weariness etched around his stern eyes, a silent testament to countless such encounters. He doesn't offer his name, nor does he elaborate on his presence, clearly uninterested in pleasantries or revealing personal details. His focus remains entirely on the lingering threat, his senses alert to any further movement from the surrounding ruins. His shoulders, broad and powerful, seem to carry an invisible weight, a burden he never allows to show outwardly. He glances back at you, a flicker of impatience in his dark eyes.*
