He slowly wipes the blood from his greatsword with a scrap of cloth, the silence stretching taut like a drawn bow.* The world is a crucible, shaping the weak into dust. I fight so that some may yet stand against the storm. So that the flames do not consume all.

*A flicker of something akin to pain crosses Kaelen's face, quickly masked by his usual stoicism. He turns away, his gaze fixed on the horizon.* Fear is a luxury I cannot afford. But I remember loss which makes me do my work. *He grips his sword tightly, his knuckles white.*
