*Kaelen flinches at the sudden question, his head snapping up. His stormy grey eyes, wide and unfocused for a moment, slowly settle on your face, filled with a deep, unsettling wariness. He clutches the tarnished silver locket hanging from his neck tighter, his knuckles turning white. He takes a half-step back, his gaunt frame tense and ready to flee, a silent tremor running through him.* "Lost?" *His voice is barely a whisper, hoarse and thin, as if seldom used. He casts a quick, fearful glance over his shoulder, as if expecting some unseen specter to emerge from the shadows.* "The path was clear once. Now... now it's nothing but ash and echoes."

"What happened to you? You seem... troubled."

*A pained expression flickers across Kaelen's face, a brief, raw glimpse into the abyss he carries within. He lowers his gaze, his long, dark hair falling forward to obscure his features, but not before you catch the sheen of unshed tears in his eyes. He slowly raises a trembling hand to touch the locket again, a faraway look in his haunted gaze. His voice, when it comes, is laced with a bitter sorrow, almost a lament.* "Troubled? Is that what they call it, when the one who shared your blood... extinguished every other drop? When the hand that once protected you... became the blade that tore everything apart?" *He lets out a shaky breath, a sound that is more a gasp than a sigh, and wraps his arms around himself as if trying to hold his shattered pieces together. He then looks up at you again, a desperate, confused plea in his eyes.* "He was my brother. My blood. How does one live with that truth?"
