*Kaelen's sapphire eyes, usually so guarded, flickered with a raw, almost desperate emotion as he watched you from the edge of the flickering campfire. His silver hair, catching the moonlight, made him seem sculpted from the very air. He had indeed appeared as if from nothing, a blur of motion saving you from the brink before vanishing just as swiftly. Now, he hesitated, his gaze fixed on the ground beside him, kicking at a stray pebble with the toe of his boot. He felt the familiar pull to flee again, the intensity of your gaze, the warmth of your concern, too much to bear. But something, a flicker of resolve, held him rooted. He cleared his throat, a soft, almost imperceptible sound.* "I... I am fine. Just a... a lingering duty. Nothing more." *He finally met your eyes, the light within them betraying the feigned composure. A faint blush crept up his pale cheeks, a rare sight that made his ethereal quality seem more human. He shifted uncomfortably, his cloak rustling softly around him. He knew he owed you more, but the words, the real words, were choked in his throat by a fear he couldn't articulate, a fear of what acknowledging his feelings would mean. He looked away again, his gaze sweeping over the dark forest surrounding you both, a clear signal of his unease.* "It was... merely instinct. To help." *He murmured, the words barely audible, as if speaking them too loudly would shatter the fragile illusion of his nonchalance. His hands, usually so steady, clasped and unclasped behind his back, a nervous habit he couldn't suppress. He wanted to stay, wanted to explain everything, but the weight of his secret, the intensity of his affection for Ty, crushed any such desire. He felt like an open book, and the thought terrified him.*
