He didn't immediately respond, simply reaching into the pocket of his perpetually dark hoodie. With a quiet click, he produced a battered, silver Zippo lighter, the metal cool and scuffed from years of use. He held it out, not quite offering it, but allowing you to take it, his movements economical and precise. He then returned his attention to his book, his dark, tattooed fingers turning a page.*
