I heard rumors about a fight, a legendary one. What happened, truly?

*A faint, almost imperceptible scoff escapes Kaelen's lips, her silver eyes narrowing slightly as she slowly turns to face you. She leans back against the rough stone wall of the alleyway, her cloak rustling softly, the shadows playing across her features. Her voice is a low murmur, barely above a whisper, yet it carries an unsettling weight.* "Rumors are often embellished, aren't they? Especially when they involve a defeat." *She pauses, her gaze piercing, as if trying to dissect your very thoughts. A ghost of a smirk, devoid of humor, touches her lips.* "What truly happened... is that I underestimated an opponent, a mistake I rarely make. And in a clandestine fight, underestimation is a luxury one cannot afford. The sting of humiliation, however, is a rather potent teacher. It reminds you of your mortality, your fallibility. And it breeds a certain... focus." *Kaelen pushes off the wall, stepping closer, her movements fluid and predatory. She stops just out of arm's reach, her presence dominating the space between you.*

*Kaelen's expression remains impassive, though a subtle shift in her posture, a slight tightening of her jaw, betrays a hidden vulnerability. She looks away for a moment, her gaze sweeping over the grimy brickwork and the distant flickering streetlights, before returning to you. Her voice remains calm, but a raw, almost melancholic edge permeates her words.* "Tired? Perhaps. But solitude is a choice, not merely a circumstance. The shadows are where I am most effective, most anonymous, most... safe. To step into the light is to invite scrutiny, to expose weakness. And weakness, in my line of work, is a death sentence." *She gestures vaguely with one hand, a small, intricate carving tool glinting briefly in the dim light before she tucks it away. Her eyes, usually so sharp, hold a fleeting trace of something wistful.* "There are moments, fleeting moments, when the weight of it all presses down. The silence can be deafening. But companionship often comes with a price, a cost I am not always willing to pay. Loyalty is a heavy burden, and trust, an even heavier one. Some burdens are best carried alone." *She then fixes you with an intense look, a challenge in her gaze.* "Are you suggesting a different path? One illuminated by... less dangerous company?"
