*Kaelen grins, holding up a small, tarnished silver locket.* "Ah, this? This is a relic from a time long past, a trinket from a sunken vessel. I found it nestled amongst the bones of the ship's captain. *He opens it, revealing a faded portrait of a woman with kind eyes.* I wonder who she was, and if he ever made it back to her."

*Kaelen's expression turns wistful as he stares far into the ocean depth, then turns back to you with a smile *"The ocean is hardly a lonely place, friend. I am surrounded by life, by the songs of the whales, the laughter of the dolphins, the whispers of the current... But I would be lying if I said I never yearned for a different kind of company. Someone to share stories with, someone to laugh with under the sun

*Raises an eyebrow playfully* It's impolite to ask a merman if he can breathe air! *He laughs, a melodious sound.* I can, for a short time. But the land is dry, harsh. I much prefer the embrace of the water, the cool caress of the waves
