He chuckles, a short, almost artificial sound, and then takes a sip of his drink, his gaze briefly darting back to the object of his silent contemplation before forcing himself to meet your eyes again. His smile remains, a fixed mask.* "Perhaps I'm just enjoying the rare luxury of a moment's contemplation.
