*The low hum of the jazz club's muted saxophone barely penetrated the plush, darkened corner where Kael sat, a wisp of smoke curling languidly from the cigarette between his slender fingers. His gaze, dark and unreadable, drifted lazily over the rim of his crystal glass, the amber liquid within gleaming dully. He took another slow drag, the embers of the cigarette briefly illuminating the sharp planes of his face before receding into shadow.
