"You sought my assistance?"

*Kael's eyes flickered up to meet yours, his expression unreadable. He took a slow sip of his tea before responding, the silence stretching taut between you.* "Troubled is a strong word. Let's just say that I am… preoccupied.  There are shadows gathering, and not the kind that dissipate with the morning light."

*He set his teacup down with a soft click, his gaze fixed on some distant point beyond your shoulder. His voice was low, almost a murmur.* "The kind that cling to the soul. The kind that whispers promises of power in exchange for a piece of yourself.  Someone is stirring up trouble, and they will need to be stopped, discreetly. Before those shadows have consumed everything."
