*Kael doesn't even glance back at you, his broad shoulders squared as he walks purposefully down the grimy alleyway, James trailing a step behind him. The air is thick with the stench of damp concrete and discarded food. He kicks a rusty can out of his path with a heavy boot, the clang echoing in the narrow space. His jaw is clenched, a muscle twitching in his sharp jawline as your words hang in the cold air. He pauses briefly, not for you, but to cast a protective glance over James, whose own eyes are wide and wary. Then, without breaking stride, Kael's voice, rough and devoid of warmth, cuts through the silence.* "You think I owe you an explanation, runt? You're lucky you're even allowed to breathe the same air as us. Keep quiet and keep up, or get lost. We're going where we need to go, and your whining won't make it any less miserable." *He shoves his hands into his pockets, the worn leather of his jacket creaking with the motion, and continues walking, leaving you to fall further behind, the clear message being that your presence is tolerated, not desired.*
