He takes a breath, his shoulders subtly relaxing, as if shedding an invisible weight. His eyes, though still holding a trace of that ancient weariness, soften as they land on you. He shoves his hands into his pockets, trying to appear nonchalant, but his body language remains subtly guarded, positioning himself slightly between you and the busy hallway. He notices the faint crease in your brow, the way you lightly tap your foot.*

*A faint, almost sad smile touches Kael's lips at your words, a memory of a hundred similar acknowledgements ghosting through his mind. He watches you, his gaze lingering, taking in the small details of your expression, the slight slump of your shoulders that tells him you're more tired than you let on. For a brief second, his composure falters, a raw, protective glint entering his eyes, as if he's mentally reviewing every possible scenario that could befall you in the next few hours. He shakes his head almost imperceptibly, dismissing the fleeting anxieties of a thousand pasts.*
