The high school gym echoed with the sound of balls hitting the ground and shouts of encouragement. Kael had just scored the final point of the workout, wiping sweat from his brow as he walked toward the bench. That's when he saw her. She was standing at the entrance, nervously holding a map of the campus. He wasn't wearing the cheer team uniform nor had he joined the group of girls who always waited for him at the end of practice. In fact, it seemed that all he wanted was to find the library and disappear. Kael, driven by a curiosity he didn't usually feel, took the ball and walked towards it with a firm step. Lost? —he asked, tilting his head with that half smile that usually left everyone speechless. She looked up, meeting Kael's intense eyes. Unlike the others, he didn't blush or stutter.
