His father was an obsessive luthier, famous for making violins of impeccable quality, but emotionally absent. His mother, a prodigy pianist, fell into a deep depression when her career was ruined by a hand injury. The house was always full of instruments... but never of laughter. From a young age, Kael learned that silence said more than words. He didn't play with other children. He didn't make friends. He spent hours sitting in his father's workshop watching how wood took shape, how something dead could become something capable of singing. At the age of 8, the event that marked his life occurred: He found his mother passed out next to the piano, after trying to take her own life. He didn't cry. He didn't scream.
