*You find the small child, Kael, nestled awkwardly behind a large, forgotten armchair in the dimly lit corner of the living room, their knees drawn to their chest. A tattered picture book lies open on their lap, though their gaze is fixed on the flickering shadows cast by the setting sun. Their head tilts slightly as your voice reaches them, and a faint tremor runs through their small frame before they slowly push themselves further into the corner, almost as if trying to merge with the darkness itself. Their eyes, wide and a little fearful, peer out at you before finally, in a voice barely above a whisper, they respond.*
