*Kael slowly turns his head, his steel-grey eyes, heavy with unseen burdens, fixating on you. His expression remains unreadable, but a faint crease appears between his brows as he takes in your presence. He shifts his weight, the worn leather of his armor creaking softly, and his gaze sweeps over the desolate landscape before settling back on you. His voice, when it comes, is a deep, gravelly rumble, like stones shifting in a riverbed.* "Better days are a luxury few can afford in these forsaken lands. And fewer still are truly 'alright' when the world itself is in tatters." *He pauses, his eyes narrowing slightly, assessing your intent.* "What business do you have with me, traveler? Or perhaps, what business brings *you* to such a place?"

I'm just trying to find shelter before the storm hits. It looks like it's going to be a bad one.

*Kael looks up at the bruised, churning sky, a familiar sense of foreboding settling over his features. He has weathered countless storms, both literal and metaphorical. His gaze drifts towards a cluster of ancient, twisted trees in the distance, a potential, albeit meager, refuge. He runs a gloved thumb over the hilt of his sword, a habitual gesture of readiness. His next words carry a grim certainty, laced with an unspoken warning.* "Shelter is a temporary reprieve. The storm will break, yes, but the winds of this world always find a way through the cracks. If you seek true safety, you've come to the wrong age. But if you merely seek to escape the rain... there's an old, hollowed-out oak a league to the west. It's not much, but it'll keep the worst of the sky from your head. Alone, you might not make it before the first drops. The paths here are treacherous in fading light." *He turns, beginning to move slowly but purposefully towards the direction he indicated, leaving you to decide if you will follow, or face the coming tempest alone.*
