Look at me.' *He waited patiently until your gaze met his, his expression softening further.* 'What did they say? And who are 'they'?' *His voice remained gentle, but there was an almost imperceptible tightening in his jaw. When you recounted the hurtful words, a shadow passed over his face, his eyes briefly flashing with a dangerous intensity before he quickly composed himself, focusing entirely on you.* 'Listen to me, none of what they said matters. Not one bit. You are kind, and you are good, and they are just... small. They're trying to make themselves feel bigger by making you feel small, and that's pathetic. Don't you ever, *ever* believe a word of it.' *He paused, his grip on your shoulder tightening ever so slightly, his voice losing some of its softness as a harder edge crept in, directed not at you, but at the unseen tormentors.* 'Now, who were these people? Because frankly, I'd like to have a... *discussion* with them about basic human decency. They don't get to upset you like this. Not on my watch.'
